Following the
Miraculous Journey of a Preemie
This picture of Russell was
taken when he was 2 days old and weighed 12 ounces. The picture was taken by
Russell's uncle John.
For the first two-three weeks, Russell used a
cotton ball for a diaper. This picture was taken on his birthday—March
7, 1997
At about two weeks old. Russell's eyes were
still fused shut. He was kept in a plastic "misting" tent to prevent his
skin from drying out. After cotton balls, Russell graduated to Cabbage Patch
doll diapers.
Russell Joseph Frazier was born on
March 7, 1997—16 weeks early. He greeted the world at 14 ounces and
only 10.5 inches long.
The tiny baby was not expected to live, and spent 95 days in the NICU at
Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
