Once again, Threads of Love was selected to receive a charitable donation from the Johnson City, Maintenance, and Headquarters Chapters of Pedernales Electric Cooperative United Charities. Each year, nearly 100% of PEC's 900 employees contribute 70% of one hour's wage monthly. At the end of the year, that amount is tallied and matched by PEC.

All employees have the opportunity to name their favorite charity, and each nominee receives at least $50. Donations are given "In recognition of the community service provided by your organization."This year, the greatest amount received was $10,000. The larger checks go to organizations in Johnson City. Threads of Love has received donations for eight years, and has been told repeatedly that we receive the largest check given outside of Johnson City.

The presentation of the checks this year took place at a special reception held in Johnson City on May 27. TOL Director Liz Page, and Board Member Ronnie Clasmeyer represented our ministry. The various charities receiving checks were showcased in a Powerpoint presentation (TOL included) for thirty minutes prior to the beginning of the reception. Liz and Ronnie found it quite interesting to see the variety of charities supported by PEC employees.

Threads of Love was first nominated by PEC employee Steven Baca. Steven's daughter Jolee had received many TOL items prior to her death. Both Steven and his wife Lori were very appreciative. Thank you Steven, and thank you PEC for your generosity. We are so thankful!
