HELEN BOROSH - VOLUNTEER OF THE QUARTER
January 2010

Helen Borosh
Threads of Love Volunteer
Helen crochets delicate baby items during the Threads of Love Texas State Convention.
Threads of Love has been providing garments and accessories for premature babies for more than ten years. During that time, many volunteers have come and gone. Each one has been greatly appreciated. Sometimes, however, certain volunteers seem to stand out-both for their dedication, and also for their wonderful spirit which inspires others. We want to acknowledge these quiet, dedicated individuals-these special volunteers-as "Volunteers of the Quarter."
Our 2010 first quarter "Volunteer of the Quarter" is Helen Borosh.
Helen turned 98 years young on January 28, and comes faithfully to our meeting every week.
She is always cheerful, and encourages others.
Helen is very industrious, sewing five garments at each weekly meeting, and then crocheting other items at home.
This dear lady is also a wonderful role model for our other members.
How did Helen come to be involved in the Threads of Love ministry?
Five years ago when she was out walking, Helen happened to run into her neighbor Darlene Kurtz. When Helen commented that she was bored, Darlene invited her to Threads of Love. Helen has been a faithful member every since! What keeps her coming to the weekly meetings? The companionship, for one thing. And, she especially enjoys making garments and then picturing how they will look on various preemies: "This one would be pretty on a blonde; this one on a brunette; this would be good for an Hispanic baby." Helen is an inspiration to us all.
Other interesting facts about Helen:
Helen is also involved in quilting at her church on Mondays.
She bowls in a league on Thursdays. Her high game for 2009 was 154. Her best score was 209 (when she still lived in Ohio).
Her husband Joseph was a newspaper printer.
She has four children, and at last count, 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great nieces, and 9 great-great nieces and nephews. Undoubtedly, there are more to come!
